Professional certificate in graduate-level coursework that could be applied for a Masters degree, in nutrition and health and wellness for communication professionals – journalists. One of 25 professionals admitted to a three-course workload to be able to report with authority, scientific study and marketing schemes regarding nutrition, food, weight, and health and wellness information. The aim is to identify fact from myth and relay complex jargon in an accessible way.

Master of Science with a focus on magazine journalism and emphasis on arts and culture.

Coursework pursued in long-form and profile writing, conflict reporting, and social media audience engagement. Acted as an editor for class website, New York City Lens. Produced a photo-print feature story about Northern Manhattan’s burgeoning art scene as a product of café culture. Wrote a 5,000- word story about the sociopolitical impact of the keffiyeh, a garment made famous by Yasser Arafat. One of five masters’ degree candidates awarded a scholarship by the South Asian Journalists Association.

Bachelor of Arts in Health and Societies, an interdisciplinary study of health via history and sociology. Utilized sociological research methods, including in-depth interviewing, database analysis, and observation, for coursework. Minored in political science, focusing on international affairs. Acted as an associate editor for university wide biomedical magazine publication, Synapse, for two years.

Covered community events in the tristate area. Wrote an investigative piece on an up-and-coming south Asian neighborhood. Interviewed and wrote long-form profiles of a NYT-bestselling author, a Hindi film actress, and a contestant on the Emmy-nominated reality competition show, Project Runway. Wrote Op-Eds about life in NY, racial profiling at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, and a widely unknown holiday celebrated by Sikhs.

Wrote web and print-based stories about New York City real estate and interior design. Reported on Sotheby’s first ever design expo and on avant-garde furniture styling in a NYC penthouse, which was picked up by the NY Metro paper.

Added breaking news briefs and copyedited articles for the website. Wrote long-form feature stories about domestic and international women’s social justice issues. Wrote an investigative piece about goddesses in art to harness women’s empowerment in the wake of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape, which was republished by The Huffington Post.

Edited, pitched and wrote stories about women in science and technology for underthemicroscope.com, curated by CUNY Feminist Press. Reported on L’Oreal Paris’s Women in Science Awards and profiled prominent members of the STEM fields.
